Passengers encouraged to sign “Courage to Intervene Promise”.

Glen Burnie, MD (MO) During National Passenger Safety Week (January 22 through January 28), the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office is asking Marylanders to speak up if they see family or friends driving dangerously behind the wheel.

Data suggests that more than 58,000 passengers in Maryland are involved in motor vehicle crashes and those crashes result in more than 12,000 injuries with preliminary data showing more than 60 passengers in Maryland were killed in motor vehicle accidents just last year. Marylanders are being asked to sign the Courage to Intervene Promise by the We Save Lives advocacy group and the National Road Safety Foundation.

The Courage to Intervene Promise asks Maryland passengers to play a proactive role in stopping dangerous driving behaviors like drunk, drugged and distracted driving, improper safety belt use, excessive speeding, and improper passing.
